Looking at food with love heart eyes this holiday season but worried about the food anxiety creep?
It’s this time of year where my relationship with food can get stretched very thin and quite quickly flip to something unhealthy.
There’s good food and drink everywhere. Every second day there’s social events, which include, guess what? More food and drink.
How does this impact me?
❌My mind tells me I should restrict my eating outside of these social events.
❌I over-indulge at social events because I’ve restricted my eating at other times.
❌I push myself harder during my workouts to “earn” my food.
❌I second-guess everything I put into my body and whether the calories are “worth it”.
❌I think that the two week period is going to de-rail my successes for the rest of the 50 weeks.
My top tips for this holiday season?
✔️Enjoy the food.
✔️Eat normally outside of social events. Don’t unnecessarily restrict (especially when you’re hungry).
✔️Know why you’re eating the food during events. Don’t just eat for the sake of eating.
✔️Try and maintain a balance on your plate (1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs, 1/2 salads/veg etc.). Plus your favourite treats.
✔️Remember that you never have to “earn” food. You earnt your food just by waking up this morning and being human.
✔️Exercise if you want to. Not because you HAVE to.
✔️2 weeks is not going to ruin or de-rail your success for the rest of the year. 50 weeks matter more than 2 weeks.
